YES!Mosaico’s Youth Experiencing Success Program (YES!) is a drop out prevention program at Mt. Hope High School that has been in existence since 2007.  Over the past five years, YES! has served more than 125 students and maintains a retention/graduation rate of 96%.

The YES! Program addresses the need to identify and work one-on-one with youth who are at-risk academically, socially, or are negatively affected by a variety of risk factors that impact their ability to graduate and seek employment or post-secondary education/training. YES! Program participants face many challenges to their academic success including poverty, exposure to crime and drugs, unstable living situations, pregnancy or parenting as teens, and others.

The YES! Program Coordinator provides case management, academic support, delivers a school-to-work curriculum, leadership development, work preparation/work maturity skills, and works successfully with community members and employers to provide work-based learning opportunities and caring mentors. The crux of the approach is the one-on-one relationship the youth build with the Program Coordinator through frequent individual meetings for guidance & counseling.

According to the U.S. Department of Education, nearly 1/3 of students across the country do not graduate. The YES! Program’s intervention is proven to prevent youth from dropping out of school.  In 2007, the graduation rate at Mt. Hope High School was 74.4% .The graduation rate in 2009 was 85.5%.  The superintendent of the Bristol-Warren School District has credited this increase in part to our program.
